Everything you need to set up your first brand, run your first audit, understand how Owl scores you, and read your Owl Report. If you get stuck, email admin@aeoowl.com.

Getting Started

~10 minutes to your first Owl Report
01
Add your first brand
Click + Add brand from your dashboard or sidebar. You'll enter your brand name, website domain, and a one-liner describing who you serve.
Tip: The clearer your "who you serve" description, the better Owl can draft audit questions for you later. "B2B SaaS founders building MVPs" is more useful than just "SaaS."
~2 min
02
Add competitors
Add up to 5 competitor brands or domains. Owl audits how AI engines mention them alongside you so you can see where you're winning and losing.
Tip: Pick the brands your prospects compare you against — direct competitors, alternative solutions, the names that come up in sales calls. After your first audit, Owl will surface additional brands cited alongside you in the answers, and you can promote those to your tracked list.
~1 min
03
Add your customer questions
Owl audits AI engines using up to 10 real customer questions in your category. These are the questions your prospects actually ask AI tools when they're evaluating options.
Tip: Click Generate questions with Owl to draft 10 questions from your brand, who you serve, and your competitors. Edit any of them — you own the final list.
~1 min
04
Owl runs your audit
Owl queries all 8 major AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Google AI Overviews) with each of your 10 questions, 3 times per question. That's 240 deep queries per audit.
You can close this window. We'll email you the moment your Owl Report is ready — usually 5–10 minutes after submission.
5–10 min
05
Review your Owl Report
Your Owl Report gives you two scores — AI Visibility (are engines citing you?) and AEO Readiness (how prepared is your site to earn citations?) — a competitor leaderboard, and a prioritized Action Plan with what to fix, in what order, ranked by impact. See the Methodology section below for how the scores are calculated.
Tip: The Owl Report is shareable. Click Share on any report to get a public link clients can open without signing in.

Methodology

How Owl scores you · the short version

AEO Owl reports two scores, never combined. AEO Readiness measures how prepared your website and brand are to earn AI citations (Authority Signals + Content Clarity + Technical Structure). AI Visibility measures whether AI engines are actually citing you (Citation Rate + Share of Voice + Engine Coverage + Avg Position). Readiness shapes Visibility, so you can see where you stand and what to fix next.

RangeBandWhat it means
6.5 – 10.0 Strong AI engines reliably surface your brand in category conversations.
4.0 – 6.5 Moderate Present but inconsistent. Clear gaps vs. the category leaders.
2.0 – 3.9 Weak Engines name you rarely. Foundation or distribution work needed.
Below 2.0 Critical AI engines effectively don't cite you in this category.
